
Self-service and collection solutions for businesses in Spain
An analysis of how users perceive self-checkout solutions in stores in Spain
Download the reportThis report, launched by the Payment Innovation Hub, as an innovation center, in collaboration with CaixaBank and Visa, collects the opinions of more than 1,000 respondents, with the aim of knowing the perception of Spaniards about the different self-payment solutions for businesses. The research shows what the preferences are for this type of solutions for a better understanding of current trends. According to the data collected, the Spanish consumer positively values all types of solutions available on the market:
- Self-service fixed point and autonomous payment.
- Product scanning and payment via mobile phones.
- Automatic scanning of product baskets at fixed POS and autonomous payment.
- Product scanning with a scanner gun in store and payments at a fixed cash register.
- Smart shopping cart without fixed POS Fully automated system.
The report reflects that almost 30% of Spaniards already use or would prefer to use self-payment solutions. In addition, these systems allow users to make payments autonomously, in order to provide greater agility and speed in completing the purchasing process. This is why more and more businesses are adopting this solution as a quick payment model, complementing the traditional cash register, which continues to be preferred (52%) by Spanish citizens.
It should be noted that the main benefits that consumers see when using this type of solutions include avoiding waiting time in the checkout line (49%) and greater speed (48%), since they consider that these types of solutions are more agile than in-line cashiers.
